The Lapis Lazuli stone is one of the most sought after stones and has been since the history of man. It is a symbol of royalty and honor and is even referenced in the Old Testament. Even King Tutankhamen was buried with Lapis Lazuli to represent his royal status. It was widely used in jewelry and even ground into powder to use for eye shadow, medicine and elixers and even dye. During the Renaissance period, it was the most expensive blue pigment available.
Lapis Lazuli is good for balancing our Throat Chakra and helps us find the right words for every situation. It encourages clear expression when communicating with others.
Although it is a good Throat Chakra stone, it is also a great stone to work with the Third Eye. Lapis helps connect us with the celestial kingdom and is a deeply peaceful stone. It provides wisdom and easier connection into the mystical realm as well as with our Spirit Guides.
Lapis Lazuli is highly intuitive but helps us to remain objective during analysis of situations. It will serve as a protection stone against psychic attacks and against negative energy. It also relieves tension and anxiety.
Lapis Lazuli and Sodalite are often mistaken for each other and can sometimes be hard to tell apart. Although they are very similar in color, they are completely different stones. Lapis Lazuli is made up of a combination of minerals that include Lazurite, Calcite and Pyrite. It is the Pyrite flakes that help us to identify this stone giving it the gold coloring that will show up as small specks or lines in the stone. Sodalite does not have this coloring.
